Dr. Govan graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) in Risk Management in 2001. After working in corporate America for approximately 3 years she returned to school and completed a Master’s of Science in Professional Counseling in 2006 from Georgia State University. She then became licensed, at the master’s level, as a Professional Counselor. Dr. Govan received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology in 2012 from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Govan has worked in several different therapeutic settings including: (5) college counseling centers, community mental health facilities, substance abuse facilities, hospitals, and the Georgia Crisis/Suicide helpline. She provides multiculturally sensitive psychotherapy to children (10 years and older), adolescents, and adults. She enjoys conducting individual, couples, and family counseling and has expertise in treating clients with anxiety, depression and trauma. Dr. Govan also has expertise in working with clients who experience interpersonal, substance abuse, and relationship issues. In addition, Dr. Govan provides consultation and outreach to businesses (such as churches, organizations, and corporations); and facilitates trainings and seminars (on various issues such as communication skills, conflict resolution, personal and professional balance, and healthy relationships).
